The Swahili Kitchen Cookbook (paperback)
$10.00
As far back as I can remember I have always loved food. But not just any food, Tanzanian food especially. My childhood memories are marked with the aroma of chapati and mandazi. I remember being teased at school because all my clothes smelled like onions. That’s African food for you, it’s aromatic, it’s bold – it leaves a mark.
MY LOVE FOR FOOD
My love for food was birthed as I watched my mom try to piece together her life in a new country where she knew no one and didn’t speak the language. She took what she had and recreated Tanzania in our house. With every recipe, she reminded us of home. Once I had a family of my own, I knew I wanted to do the same in my household.
A FAMILY OF MY OWN
My husband being Kenyan and me Tanzanian we merged our cultures and found more similarities than differences, from food to language. We had the same recipes and both spoke Swahili. From then on our home has been the Swahili home, and me the Swahili mom. This cookbook is a compilation of recipes in honor of our East African Culture. You will find recipes and techniques that honor both Tanzania and Kenyan culture, all in an easy step-by-step process that anyone can follow
